Lately I have been working towards building a robotics platform, I was very reluctant to spend a lot of time attempting to design something from scratch. After much internet searching I found a brilliant design entitled ‘prototank‘ by thingverse user timmiclark.
My plan is to take this design and add cameras, sonar sensors and probably some kind of robot arm to the mix. For the moment I have just managed to get the main motors to work as seen in the video below.
The only main issue I can see so far is the lack of odometry (a device for measuring movement). This may cause problems later down the line, However I will try using an accelerometer initially or perhaps too and see where it takes me.
